Mr. Hugo graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Accounting and a degree in Marketing. Mr. Hugo started his career at KPMG where he was first exposed to the oil and gas industry. While working on the audit staff at KPMG he worked on the Devon Energy audit and developed an interest in the oil and gas industry. After a couple of years in public accounting Mr. Hugo was looking to expand his knowledge in the oil and gas industry and accepted a position at Devon Energy. While at Devon Energy Mr. Hugo worked on various special projects one of which was a sales tax and severance tax refund project that netted a refund of over $5 million from the state of Texas. Mr. Hugo’s experience working on various special projects at Devon Energy allowed him to gain an understanding of many different areas of oil and gas accounting and tax.
While working at Devon Energy Mr. Hugo discovered a need for an consulting firm that specialized in only oil and gas accounting and tax issues. In the fall of 2001 Mr. Hugo left Devon Energy and started Petroleum Accounting Consultants. Under Mr. Hugo’s direction Petroleum Accounting Consultants has recovered over $42 million in tax refunds for oil and gas clients. Mr Hugo then focused his efforts on developing a complete back office solution for oil and gas operators, working interest owners and royalty owners. Today Mr. Hugo’s main area of responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of Petroleum Accounting Consultants and keeping up-to-date on the every changing tax laws related to oil and gas companies.
Mr. Hugo enjoys spending time with his wife Kristin as well his daughter Lauren and his son Carson. Mr. Hugo is also actively involved in the community and enjoys coaching his kids youth sports teams. Mr. Hugo also enjoys participating in duathlons and other endurance races.
Mr. Ward completed his undergraduate education at Mid-America Christian University . He also earned a Masters degree in Management at Southern Nazarene University.
Mr. Ward brings 12 years of banking experience and is currently pursuing the designation of CPA. During his time in the banking industry Mr. Ward was exposed to several different facets of financial management. Mr. Ward focuses his practice in the areas of revenue distribution and joint interest billings as well as joint interest billing audits. Mr. Ward also handles federal and state income tax issues related to oil and gas investments for both operators and investors.
Mrs. Ketchie attended the University of Oklahoma for three years before transferring to BYU to complete her degree in accounting. Mrs. Ketchie has over six years of experience in the financial services industry. Mrs. Ketchie’s has been with Petroleum Accounting since 2011. Mrs. Ketchie’s practice includes providing monthly accounting for an oil and gas companies as well as preparing Federal and State tax returns for oil and gas companies.
Mr. Rowell has been with Petroleum Accounting Consultants since 2010. Mr. Rowell’s focuses his practice on researching various severance tax laws. Based on publically available information Mr. Rowell researches which companies are taking advantage of the various severance tax incentives. Based on Mr. Rowell’s research he is able to identify oil and gas companies which have wells that qualify for a severance tax refund.
Mrs. Hall attended Oklahoma State University and has over 14 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Mrs. Hall’s responsibilities include preparing monthly severance tax filings and the firm’s internal accounting. Mrs. Hall also performs payroll services for our client’s and has been with the firm since 2006.
Over the past thirteen years Mrs. Garcia, has been providing business clients with accounting and tax services. Mrs. Garcia’s experience includes Oklahoma gross production tax and Texas severance tax issues. Mrs. Garcia also has experience in several oil and gas accounting packages.
